Meet the Optometrists

Houston

Dr. Antony N. Nguyen
Therapeutic Optometrist
Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

Dr. Antony Nguyen was born in Arkansas, and after living in there for a few years, his family moved to Texas, making Houston home.  Dr. Nguyen resides near the Galleria area, close by to where he attends church at St. Michael's.

Prior to his optometric training with emphasis on medical eye care at the University Eye Institute, Dr. Nguyen earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston, where he was also involved in the community by volunteering with Prevent Blindness and Texas Children's Hospital. During his professional training, Dr. Nguyen remained active in school and community activities that include serving as the vision screening chair of SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), and as chair of the Optometry Day Student Panel, which provides insight into the optometric profession for high school students and college undergraduates. Dr. Nguyen was also a vision science summer instructor for two years in TEXOCOP (Texas Optometry Career Opportunities Program).  And prior to earning his degree, Dr. Nguyen was a recipient of the Texas State Optical Scholarship.

Dr. Nguyen spent time interning at the San Diego Naval Medical Center and at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.   He was privileged to be given the opportunity to care for military personnel and their families. Back home, he interned at Houston Eye Associates with surgeons in various specialties such as glaucoma, cornea, and retina. And before receiving his degree as a Doctor of Optometry and Glaucoma Specialist, he delivered patient care for homeless and indigent patients at the San Jose Clinic.

Dr. Nguyen speaks fluent English and Vietnamese, and basic Spanish.  His hobbies include reading, traveling, running, and golfing.  In addition, he likes to stay current with the latest technological and medical advances in order to provide the highest quality of care to his patients.  And most of all, he enjoys rooting for his hometown sports teams and spending quality time with family and friends.
