    Antony N. Nguyen

    Therapeutic Optometrist
    Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

    Dr. Antony Nguyen was born in Arkansas, and after living there for a few years, his family moved to Texas, making Houston home.  Dr. Nguyen resides near the Galleria area, close by to where he attends church at St. Michael's.

    Prior to his optometric training with emphasis on medical eye care at the University Eye Institute, Dr. Nguyen earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston, where he was also involved in the community by volunteering with Prevent Blindness and Texas Children's Hospital. During his professional training, Dr. Nguyen remained active in school and community activities that include serving as the vision screening chair of SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), and as chair of the Optometry Day Student Panel, which provides insight into the optometric profession for high school students and college undergraduates. Dr. Nguyen was also a vision science summer instructor for two years in TEXOCOP (Texas Optometry Career Opportunities Program).  Prior to earning his degree, Dr. Nguyen was a recipient of the Texas State Optical Scholarship.

    Dr. Nguyen spent time interning at the San Diego Naval Medical Center and at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.   He was privileged to be given the opportunity to care for military personnel and their families. Back home, he interned at Houston Eye Associates with surgeons in various specialties such as glaucoma, cornea, and retina. Before receiving his degree as a Doctor of Optometry and Glaucoma Specialist, he delivered patient care for homeless and indigent patients at the San Jose Clinic.

    Dr. Nguyen speaks fluent English, Vietnamese, and basic Spanish.  His hobbies include reading, traveling, running, and golfing.  In addition, he likes to stay current with the latest technological and medical advances in order to provide the highest quality of care to his patients.  Most of all, he enjoys rooting for his hometown sports teams and spending quality time with family and friends.

  • Dr. Cuong V. Tran
    Cuong V. Tran

    Therapeutic Optometrist
    Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

    Dr. Cuong V. Tran is a Texas board-certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist who specializes in primary eye care, contact lenses, and detection and treatment of eye infections and diseases such as conjunctivitis, glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.   Dr. Tran is a graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry where he was recognized with a Clinical Letter of Excellence and placed on the Dean's Academic Lists. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston.

  • Amber R. Nelson

    Therapeutic Optometrist
    Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

    Dr. Amber Nelson was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University
    in College Station where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical
    Sciences. She then moved to Houston and earned her Doctorate of Optometry at the
    University of Houston College of Optometry. She currently resides in Pearland with her
    husband and their calico cat. 


    While pursuing her optometric degree, Dr. Nelson interned at the UH Eye Center in the
    Heights and Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth where she provided comprehensive,
    medical eye care to low-income patients suffering from various ocular diseases
    including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. She also participated in a community-
    based pediatric program providing free eye exams to children in need. Dr. Nelson was
    also fortunate to spend time interning at Pearland Eye Care where she learned private
    practice optometry and practice management skills. She was a member of the Beta
    Sigma Kappa honor society at the University of Houston College of Optometry and
    graduated Cum Laude.


    Dr. Nelson speaks basic Spanish and is skilled in soft and specialty contact lens fitting,
    managing preoperative and postoperative refractive or cataract surgery, pediatric eye
    examination, and diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, injuries, and eye
    infections. When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Nelson can be found playing tennis,
    snowboarding the Colorado mountains, or cheering on an Astros game.
